Royal Winton was founded in 1885 as Grimwade Brothers and has produced collectables and fine tea services under various trading names since then. Royal Winton chintz, the name given to the enchanting, highly detailed floral patterns, was first produced in 1928 and quickly became the trade mark style of the company. In the 1960s the production of chintz ware came to an end because of the high costs of manufacture and since then antique pieces of Royal Winton have become highly collectable.
In 1995 the company changed hands and the current owner once again began producing chintz wares on collectables and tea services in limited production runs. A 1995 date stamp is added to these new pieces to avoid confusion with older and antique pieces.
Each item undergoes a production that involves eighteen separate processes and is fired four times.
Please note that because of the nature of production at the Royal Winton factory in Stoke on Trent, England, we are only able to sell the individual pieces we have in stock and cannot guarantee re-orders of these limited availability items.
